Entertainment/travel company Pursuit, which operates several entities in Banff and Jasper, is celebrating Canada Day early by releasing a trailer for its newest Flyover experience – Awaken Canada.
The immersive show celebrating the sights, stories and spirit of Canada debuts June 28 at Flyover in Vancouver. Awaken Canada will become the attraction’s new anchor experience and will eventually be shown at all Flyover sites.
With operations in Vancouver, Iceland, Las Vegas and Chicago (and Toronto in 2025), Pursuit’s Flyover combines expansive films with flight simulation, putting audiences in the pilot’s seat. Guests sit suspended in front of a 20-metre spherical screen as a sightseeing film plays. The seats swoop, dip and turn with the action and scents, sounds, mists and winds enhance the experience.

The newest film, Awaken Canada, includes imagery of soaring above Baffin Island, through the sails of the historic Bluenose II, and across the Prairies. Other locales include Mount Logan in the Yukon, the Athabasca Sand Dunes, and some of the country’s most challenging terrain.
“The production integrated drone technology, along with its classic cinematic helicopter that explored parts of Canada that are home to remote Canadian communities. Locals and visitors alike will be wowed and amazed by this stunning new edition of a Canadian journey,” said Lisa Adams, COO and executive producer, Flyover Attractions.
The writer and director of this latest show is Dave Mossop, the Canadian co-founder of Sherpa Cinemas, a cutting-edge film production studio based in B.C. The aerial adventure specialist also helped create flms for Flyover Iceland, the original Flyover Canada and Flyover America. The latest footage was augmented by Gabriel Kocher, a renowned Canadian drone racing pilot.
“For many Canadians, home is built upon an appreciation of many cultures coming together, an awareness of Canada’s vast diverse landscapes, and a collective personality built on tenacity, kindness, and respect. Ninety-nine per cent of people will never get to see much of this huge country, especially the Arctic. We hope this visceral and expansive experience awakens a newfound reverence for and connection to, the magnificent place we call home.”
Flyover collaborated with Parks Canada for this production, ensuring the health and safety of communities, and wildlife. All athletic feats were performed by professionals.
Besides the Flyover experiences, Pursuit operates a number of attractions, hotels and restaurants in the Banff-Jasper corridor including the Banff Gondola, Banff Mount Royal Hotel, Elk and Avenue Hotel, Golden Skybridge, Open Top Touring and Columbia Icefield Adventure.
