The star of every show deserves the spotlight. In home design, this sentiment is true, as well.
While many rooms play an important role within the home, there’s usually one or two that deserve emphasis. In a new model by Jayman Built, that special treatment goes to the kitchen.
The Avery 20 is a single-family model with four bedrooms and three bathrooms above grade. A show home depicting this model is now open in the southeast lake community of Mahogany.
In some homes, an open-concept design can feel like one large room, lacking definition. But the eye wants something special.

The centrally located cooking space features a soaring open-to-above ceiling. At the top of this ceiling, there is a series of windows and stylish pendant lighting. These elements add intrigue to area that typically doesn’t see it.
The kitchen is overlooked by a second floor hallway with a glass railing. This railing, which helps with the spread of natural light, reaches down the stairs, as well.
As a result of the kitchen ceiling, people will naturally want to spent time in this part of the main level. Boasting an L-shaped design, the cooking space includes an island with a sink and eating bar that seats three people.
Including the island and long stretches of counter space on either end of its gas range, the kitchen offers plenty of surface area, supporting the ability for multiple people to chip in on meal preparation.
The kitchen’s assortment of cabinets and spacious walk-in pantry mean every pot, pan, cooking gizmo and box of cereal has a place of its own, avoiding clutter and disorganization.
Its appliances are stainless steel, including a wall oven and fridge with french doors.

The main level includes a spacious and bright front-facing great room and dining area between it and the kitchen.
One of the home’s four bedrooms above grade is located at he back of the main level. In the show home, it is staged as a home office, showing off another possible use.
As a bedroom, this space would make sense for elderly relatives or anyone else who would want to avoid regular use of stairs. The concept of never needing to leave the main level is further supported by the full bathroom across the hall.
On the second level, the primary bedroom is on one end and two secondary bedrooms are side by side on the other. Reaching 12 feet 11 inches by 11 feet, the primary features a large walk-in closet and upscale ensuite.
The ensuite includes a shower with a glass door and vanity with two sinks beneath a full width mirror.
The show home is presented with a developed basement, where two more bedrooms can be found. These bedrooms are located on opposite ends of the basement, buffered by a generously proportioned rec area. Next to one of these bedrooms is a full bathroom.
People who enjoy spending time outdoors will be drawn to Mahogany. On sunny days, it’s easy to imagine families flocking to its 2.42-hectare freshwater lake for swimming, canoeing or pedal boating. They may also set out on its 22 kilometres of community pathways or its 30 hectares of naturalized wetlands.
