Who: Tate McRae, Cowboys Music Festival
The website for the Cowboys Music Festival is puzzlingly vague on when this show will start, but the FAQ section suggests the doors open at 4 p.m. and McRae’s performance is scheduled for “early evening.” This is a rare hometown show for McRae, whose star has been on a steady climb since 2019. McRae, who turned 21 on July 1, had a tremendous 2023 that included Juno nods and a Saturday Night Live performance. Tickets for this show are close to being sold out, although there is a wait list.

Limited tickets will also be available at the gate, according to the website.
Who: Melanie C., The Big Four Roadhouse, 10:30 p.m.
Before there was Tate McRae and others — actually long, long before — dance-pop didn’t earn the same acclaim as it does now from critics.
But those of a certain vintage will remember it as a realm ruled by The Spice Girls, who sold more than 30 million albums in the mid-1990s. There have been numerous reunions, including one in 2019, and solo projects for various members.
That includes Melanie C., aka Sporty Spice, who has found success as a solo artist and a DJ. She will be displaying her DJ chops on Friday at the Big Four Roadhouse.
